Deciding to commit to counselling can be a daunting experience.
For some, leaving the house in itself can be almost, if not, impossible. Physical disability or anxiety can keep us locked away with little access to some of the most beneficial therapies. This is where counselling at the clients home can help. Whilst it may not be available to everyone, read on to see if it is something that you might be suitable for you.
Due to Covid-19 I am unable to offer home counselling at this time.
First of all you should book an initial assessment appointment. This can be done over the telephone or at your own home at a time that is convenient for us both (evenings and weekends). This is to make sure that the service I offer is suitable and safe.
I will assess the venue for suitability (I do not care if it's untidy!) I am looking to make sure the space we use is both secure and private as well as quiet. I look to see if there is comfortable seating for those attending. It is not helpful if the session is disturbed by someone walking in or distractions from elsewhere. There could be confidentiality issues if someone can hear. I want to provide the best service for my clients and that begins with a comfortable and safe space.
If everything is in order and the client is happy with the arrangement then sessions can be booked.
I will arrive at the prescribed time and the session will begin. The Counselling session itself will last for fifty minutes and then some admin may be done with the client.
On the day of the session I will call or text to confirm the appointment. It is important that payments are made in advance of the session (check the "Fees" page on how to pay) as I can not provide sessions in this manner without confirmation of payment.
I understand that it is polite to give food or drinks to visitors, but I ask that you do not make this kind offer as I will gently decline. Please do not be offended if I do.
Please make sure that I am able to gain access (somebody hears the me knock or ring the doorbell) at the allotted time. If access is not immediate, I will wait in the car for up to fifteen minutes and then terminate the session if no contact is made. No refund for this lost session will be given.
